how am i going to use the sound>
Foley is the art of creating sound effects for radio, film, and television. The term actually comes from a man, Jack Donovan Foley, who made sound effects for live radio broadcasts. He focused on creating realistic sounds with the tools he had around him rather than using generic sounds made in other programs.
because this is a Foley project i need to make all the sounds myself. some of the main sounds in my piece include wood , Wood creaks appear in almost every film you can think of, whether it is a spooky door opening, footsteps on an old floor, or walking the plank. a suggestion is to try bending a pallet plank or shifting on a wooden bench manually can provide the right mix of subtly and action. also body hits are seen quite a lot in my project .Recording body impact sound fx is a tricky one. For a realistic effect try hitting steak, raw chicken, or anything else you can pick up at your local butcher. to make a sound that isn't too gory you can roll up a phone book and begin beating. I need to experiment hitting it with different things: your hands, a baseball bat, and so on. For me i will produce a number of thuds to emphasise the sound of an impact.
The main sound effect i will need to get right is sword clashes, so to do this i will try and drag a metal spatula across a cooking sheet to create sword scrape and lock up sound effects. Lift it quickly off the surface to create the classic ‘shing’ sound. Experiment with different widths and thicknesses of spatulas to add character to different-sized weapons like broadswords, rapiers, daggers, and others. But the most basic method is just using knives and forks.
equipment i will use in this project :
- ZOOM MIC
- DECKING __ FOR RUNNING ON WOOD
- KNIVES_ SWORD TYPE SOUND
- PLASTIC STRIP _ FOR WHOOSH SOUND
- CHURCH BELLS
